Amybeth McNulty plays Anne, an abandoned 13 year old girl who endures a childhood that is filled with violence in homes and orphanages. In the late 1890s Anne is mistakenly sent to live with the elderly brothers Marilla as well as Matthew Cuthbert who live on Prince Edward Island. When the show ends it's 1919 and the family are happy; Gilbert is 55 and is still deeply attracted to Anne of Green Gables.
